The Taung skull, first discovered in the Transvaal, (which was Botswana), South Africa by Raymond Dart in 1924. A juvenile Australopithecine of the gracile type (= slender delicate). It is regarded by some authorities as on the direct line between Ramapithecus and both Homo habilis and the more robust Australopithecines.
