A superb exhibition piece consisting of 3 fine, complete, sequential sets of marks made by the venter of a complete perisphinctid ammonite rolling along the sea floor with the current. Each set comprises: a.) A long mark of the body chamber (about 90 mm), terminating in the impression of the peristome. During this time the centre of gravity of the ammonite was being raised relative to the sea floor. b.) A gap of about 45 to 50 mm the follows, representing the distance between the peristome and the first contact point of the outer whorl as the ammonite fell from its highest position. c.) A short deep mark about 40 mm long where the ammonite landed and bounced. The mark is a ridged impression of the venter plus a small adjacent splash of sediment disturbed laterally by the bounce.
